Best luxury sunscreens of 2018

Hello sunshine!  That warmth, the change in the light spectrum, lovely longer evenings spent alfresco with friends and family, and everyone generally feeling happier and uplifted…How us Brits love a sunny day, it makes us all feel so good!  The second a sliver of sunshine appears through the clouds, we dash off to the beach or out into the garden before it disappears again… Enjoying some time in the sun is great, but it’s important that you do it safely.  Here’s my personal pick of the best luxe sunscreens for 2018.

1: Sisley Super Soin Solaire Tinted Sun Care SPF 30 40ml £114.50

Expensive… but one of the best on the market for facial protection. A moisturising and nourishing formula: the sun’s rays can damage the skin’s hydrolipidic film leading to dehydration and dryness and this sun care beauty combats them to perfection.  Shea butter oil, Camellia oil and Mango extract help to recover suppleness and moisture, also helps protect the skin from the effects of photo-aging (wrinkles, dark spots, dehydration and loss of firmness).

An ideal make-up finish in shades that perfectly suit different skin tones and provide an optimal coverage for a natural and luminous finish. The fluid is a silky and non-greasy cream that leaves the skin supple and water-resistant too.  One of the nicest creams I have used and being naturally scented with essential oils of Sage and Marjoram, just melt divine when applying.  Available in 4 shades: Porcelain, Natural, Golden, Amber.

2: Soleil Toujours Organic Sheer Sunscreen Mist SPF50 – £32

One for organic lovers, this screen is ideal to protect the delicate skin on your face with 70%+ certified organic ingredients and the micro mist is formulated with the safest clear broad spectrum UV protection. Packed with antioxidants that calm and hydrate the skin, this formula adds radiance and also finishes and sets makeup. I really liked the fact that it comes packaged in a convenient 2oz fine mist sprayer, so it’s perfect to take with you on the go for easy re-application throughout the day.  This sun cream is also fortified with green tea leaf extract to prevent burning and stop those wrinkles. An anti-aging sun cream? – it’s a yes from me!

3. Jurlique Sun Specialist SPF 40 High Protection Cream – £27.00

The Australians are experts when it comes to sun safety and this brand is among their best skincare exports. Extremely protective, yet completely natural, it offers broad spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays for face and body and contains a new Super-Berry Complex, a fruit extract blend that delivers essential vitamins, minerals and amino acids to condition and protect the skin from the effects of environmental aggressors along with a lovely calming scent.  I’m always a sucker for a great aroma!

It also includes Inca Inchi Oil in its magic formula which is extracted by pressing the seeds and flesh of the fruit of the pracaxi tree which is native to the area surrounding the Amazon River.  Jurlique’s screen is also rich in essential fatty acids and Vitamin E, along with a special blend of natural emollients and Shea Butter help to maintain optimum skin moisturisation during sun exposure for skin that looks and feels protected, hydrated and smooth.

4.  Perricone MD Photo Plasma Broad Spectrum SPF 30 – £53.00

A ‘New You’ beauty award winner last year, if you are prone to skin irritation and break-outs, particularly in the summer months, look no further. A light, oil-free, non-chemical mineral sunscreen that moisturises and protects even the most sensitive skin, as well as providing a lovely glow.

It’s a world away from heavy, oily alternatives that leave your pores feeling clogged, and perfect for under make-up or as a standalone option.  Photo Plasma is an oil-free moisturiser creates an invisible shield against environmental aggressors and protects skin against UVA and UVB damage with a Broad Spectrum SPF 30. Lightweight in texture, I love the way it glided onto my skin smoothly and evenly, leaving it soft, hydrated and radiant, definitely a keeper…
