Treatment room goals…Looks inviting don’t you think? But, spending time on a massage couch does more than just offer an hour or so of relaxation in a beautiful space. Massage is the healing power of touch from knowledgable hands of a skilled therapist bringing about a whole plethora of benefits to both psychological and physiological wellbeing. Relieving stress and reducing anxiety, helping release fibromyalgia and adhesions, soothing tension headaches and helping us to sleep better. Massage can relieve symptoms of depression, improve cardiovascular health and reduce the pain of osteoarthritis.
In 2017, the Cornwall-based Made For Life Foundation saw a need for those living with cancer to be welcomed into spas rather than seen as a contra-indicated client who needed a GP referral letter. The foundation designed and launched a fully accredited 3 day Cancer Touch Therapy training course. This advanced course enabled qualified beauty and massage therapists to gain a deeper understanding of what cancer is, the staging and grading of cancer and how treatments for cancer can affect the need to adapt spa therapies. A game-changer in the wellness stakes when one is needing all the comfort and support out there in what must be one of the most challenging times of life. A Gift of Wellness… Imagine if you could wrap up a parcel of good health, send an envelope filled with relaxation, or courier a box full of nurturing intention, to a much loved family member or a very special friend.
Well now you can, as I have just launched ‘A Gift of Wellness’ treatment vouchers. Boutique Wellbeing at Ash Cottage is just 5 miles from the beautiful town of Woodstock, located in the heart of the Cotswolds. A rural retreat that offers bespoke natural therapies, a perfectly unique and indulgent gift for Christmas or any special occasion.
Reflexology is a wonderful therapy. It feels profoundly relaxing and, when used in the right way, can help the body recover from a wide range of conditions.
It is one of the oldest forms of complementary therapy with roots in ancient Eygpt, China & India. It is based on the theory that there are micro-systems on the feet, hands and face that connect to all aspects of our bodies. By massaging specific points on the feet, hands or face, one can affect corresponding parts of the body. Amazing!
A Reflexologist feels for areas of sensitivity or deposits on the feet, hands or face that indicate potential weaknesses and causes of problems in the body. By massaging through these areas, it is possible to help the body recover.
To celebrate ‘World Reflexology Week’ I am offering a course of 4 Reflexology treatments for the price of 3! The sessions should ideally be taken once a week and full payment for the full course of treatments (£120, saving of £40) is due upon initially booking. Please get in touch if you are interested as spaces are limited!
I’m delighted that Boutique Wellbeing will be part of an amazing 3 day retreat at Poundon House this September! It will be the first time working with Alicia Roscoe, owner of Poundon, yoga teacher, conscious events curator of @andsister_yoga and ambassador for Lulu Lemon. I will be offering an eclectic mix of my bespoke healing therapies for a total immersion of mind, body and skin wellbeing, using #demamiel. @demamielskin ・・・
Since moving to Ash Cottage 8 years ago, coming home has always felt like a therapy to me…Whether it’s the abundance of greenery surrounding the house, being nestled in the woods, all cool and languid in the summer heat, or sitting out looking over the fields, the home to several horses gently grazing all day long. I would find it hard to live anywhere else.
Many of my clients’ see this little slice of the Cotswolds as their ‘retreat’. Indulging in a beautiful facial or de-stressing with a long, slow massage, with a wellbeing retreat vibe to boot really adds to the experience they say, which is wonderful to hear. For me, adding extra layers of sensory stimulation to a therapy is so important, and one that I strive to make special for each and every person I treat.
From the deep inhalations and breath work, using the purest essences to stimulate the memory-evoking limbic system, to the koshi chime sound healing at the end, it all adds up to ensure the best experience for each and every therapy.
